First day in Beijing

I had a very comfortable night thus I slept in until 2 pm. Luckily, it was the most beautiful weather in weeks, as Mario told me. Since Christoffer and Mario had to be in the office, I decided to explore the district round our house by foot. I simply started walking in one direction in which I suggested a nice park – luckily I was right. Pictures are more expressing than words in this case, so I let them tell the story of my first impressions of Beijing:
After 3 hours of aim less walking, I got in a Taxi and drove home. Well, I tried to at least. Much earlier than I expected, the driver told me to get out. I was a bit confused as I didn’t recognize the buildings at fist. But after a few minutes of orientation I thought I knew where I am. But after all this new impressions, I totally forgot which of all these central park towers (and there are 16 of them) is mine. I checked my key for information, there was a note which said “T10-2601” which I interpreted as Tower 10, level 26, room 01. So I made my way to tower 10. Entering it I became uncertain whether this is really the right building, as all seemed to look a little bit different. Nevertheless I tried the electronic key at the entrance hall and since it worked, I walked ahead. Standing in front of room 01 on level 26, though, I was pretty much sure that I am utterly wrong. So I gave Mario a call and asked him the awkward question in which tower our flat is. After a bit of laughter he told me that it is number 14 – 15 minutes later I was standing in the right apartment - utterly relieved that I found home at last :-)
At 7 pm I picked up Mario at the office in order to have dinner together. Tom, Mario’s boss, drove us to the restaurant with his mini cabriole. He is a hell of a driver! I felt like being part of a car race computer game! He was overtaking left-right-left-right…. You can imagine that this is f*ing thrilling with Beijing’s traffic.
The restaurant was quite nice, but entirely empty, except us and 2 friends of Mario we met there. Dinner was ok, but as I had a subway sandwich a few hours prior, I wasn’t that hungry. At 11:30 pm Mario and I headed for a very nice bar to have last beer for the day … as you can imagine, it has not been only one ;-)
At 4 am I finally entered my bed, utterly exhausted and a bit too drunk…
